Pieces of memories from the First Super-Volunteers Camp!

August 18, 2021

This summer TOKA organized one of its biggest camps with 46 campers from all around Kosova. What brought these campers together in the First Super-Volunteers Camp are the feeling and commitment toward being an active citizen and the mission to have an unforgettable summer. Dates 12 to 17th of July were filled with happy memories and valuable lessons. The campers tell us all about it by sharing pieces of memories with us:

For Sevdije Zeqiri from Poturoci of Lipjan this camp was the first time she was so far away from her family, she tells us that “Throughout my experience in camp I have managed to learn a lot of new lessons, but I have also made new friends. I will mention some of the things I have learned, I’ve learned to socialize with others, how to be a better leader, how to give first aid, I have understood the importance of nature and how to take care of it.”

Camp for a lot of youth is a transforming experience, where they manage to change something within themselves. Sara Halimi from Shtime said that: “I am a shy and taken aback person, camp has helped me to express myself and think more freely, and socialize. I have achieved this through the lessons and the motivation we have shared with each-other.”

Besides fun, our hardworking campers also created an Activity Toolkit for captains of Service Learning in Kosova. For Vlera Curri from Prishtina, volunteer working sessions have been her favorites “When it comes to activities, they have all been fun and extremely educational. However, the ones that stood out to me most are the volunteer work sessions. In these sessions we got together in groups and simplified club activities by adding illustrations or pictures. We did this so anyone that will use these activities in the future will have an easy time implementing them.” said Vlera.

We had some very special friends in our camps, soldiers of FSK, who taught us how to give first aid help and about surviving in nature, which for Yll Rakiqi were lessons which have prepared him for different kinds of problems he can face in his daily life.

Camp is a place where you revisit interests you’ve had for years such as sports, but you add an “extra-ordinary” element, and you end up creating a brand-new sport. Or you try something completely new such as meditation, which according to Lina “Meditation has helped me feel one with nature. I have felt myself and others. Meditation has made me stop and feel the things I do every day.”

So, in camp you find a new friend, a new hobby, a new experience that transforms you and fun and education!
