Institutionalization

The main goal of the program is to help close the learning gap between Kosova primary schoolchildren and their peers from OECD countries, by providing an equitable and innovative approach to learning about subjects that includes both primary school children, future and current teachers and educational professionals, and prepares them with cross-disciplinary skills necessary for a 21st century society and workplace.

So far, the program has trained more than 130 teachers in the new Experiential Learning Methodology.

The Teacher Training Program

Together with the Faculty of Education, University of Prishtina, we have developed the Experiential Learning Methodology (ELM) Teacher Training Program, which we will use to train school teachers. The goal of the training is to capacity build pre-school, primary and high school teachers to use innovative teaching methodologies in their classrooms.

Fraction Ball: Math with basketball

The project combined the teaching of fractions with the game of basketball, using the “Fraction Ball” methodology developed by the University of California, Irvine (UCI). The project involved 26 teachers, more than 500 primary school children, and the objective of the project was to improve learning of foundational math concepts, notably fractions and decimals, and to build capacities of per-service and in-service teachers to use these methods with their pupils in-class, which are proven to boost engagement in children. // The project was implemented in 2021-22.

Teachers of the Future

The “Teachers of the Future” Pilot Project aimed to increase students' capacities for more effective teaching, using the most interactive methods of teaching with pupils. As part of the fourth-year students' internship of the Faculty of Education (FE), 30 students were trained on how to use practical techniques and innovative teaching methods for the Albanian language learning for 5th graders. Over 400 students of the 5th grade from 7 primary schools in Prishtina took part in the project. Over 80% of students participating in the pilot project have expressed their desire to have the same teaching approach in other subjects as in Albanian. // The project was implemented in 2021

Partnership with the Faculty of Education

We have a long-standing partnership with the Faculty of Education of the University of Prishtina “Hasan Prishtina”, with whom we pilot various projects that incorporate Experiential Learning Methodology (ELM) into the classic school curriculum, expose Faculty of Education Students to ELM during the 4-years of their studies, and train in-service teachers in ELM.
