TOKA was accepted as a candidate member of the SAME (Solidarity Action Day Movement in Europe) network. The SAME network includes organizations from Sweden, Denmark, Norway, Germany, Belgium, Serbia, Montenegro, BiH, Italy, North Macedonia. They all organize an annual Solidarity Action Day in their country, which was started in 1963 in Sweden. During this day, pupils work in businesses/organizations and donate the salary they earn from this day to a cause they feel passionate about.
– After TOKA gained the status of a candidate member, we will lead the launch of Solidarity Action Day in Kosovo, targeted for Q2 2023. This is the national project that the Youth Leaders Academy will be working on from September 2022. Our aim is to work with relevant institutions that support youth volunteering to institutionalize this practice as a regular annual event, as part of a broader agenda for youth empowerment and active citizenship in Kosovo.
This candidate membership is a major success for TOKA, since it is the first Kosovar NGO based in youth work to gain this status and thus putting Kosovo in a broader youth work map.
