Empower the youth, donate to the “Lulëzojnë"
DONATE NOWElbasan Kransiqi’s journey with TOKA began as a simple experiment by a group of passionate young people, but it quickly transformed into a success story that would lead him to international leadership stages. From organizing the first-ever Solidarity Action Day in Kosovo to being accepted into the MCW Global Young Leaders Program, his experience reflects the power of volunteerism, solidarity, and community-based leadership.
Elbasan first joined the Young Leaders Academy, where the initial mission was to organize Solidarity Action Day. This was not only his introduction to TOKA but also to the idea that when young people are given space and support, they can drive major changes in their communities.
“Standing in the crowd during Solidarity Action Day was the most unforgettable moment for me. What started as an idea among young people turned into a nationwide movement where students from different backgrounds came together to support children with disabilities and mental health initiatives. It was a true demonstration of the power of collective action,” says Elbasan.
Through this experience, he learned to lead with empathy and responsibility, developing practical skills in project management, teamwork, communication, and problem-solving. Most importantly, he realized that true leadership lies in empowering others and transforming challenges into opportunities.
When he applied for the MCW Global Young Leaders Program, his TOKA experience became the foundation. He could demonstrate real, hands-on leadership – from mobilizing people to leading a project with social impact. “TOKA didn’t just give me credentials; it gave me stories and the confidence to show that I am a leader who acts, not just talks,” he explains.
While many candidates speak about leadership in theory, Elbasan could show leadership in practice through his volunteer work. Organizing a national initiative like Solidarity Action Day proved his ability to take responsibility, work under pressure, and inspire others. His authenticity and dedication made him stand out.
“Volunteering is not just about giving your time – it’s about discovering yourself and realizing the strength you have to impact others. If you’re hesitating, I’d say: just try it once. You’ll gain friends, skills, and experiences that no classroom can teach. And often, in helping others, you discover your own growth.”
After completing the MCW Global Program, Elbasan aims to bring back the knowledge and networks he gains and invest them in his community. He plans to continue working in the fields of mental health, disability inclusion, and civic engagement, while also empowering the next generation of young leaders in Kosovo. His long-term vision is to build bridges between local needs and global opportunities, so that young people from Kosovo can see themselves as active contributors to the world.
His story is a powerful reminder of how a simple idea, supported by commitment and solidarity, can grow into a movement that changes lives.
