The Journey of Solidarity Action Day 2025

January 15, 2026

Solidarity Action Day has become a space where young people find a voice, experience, and opportunities for active engagement. Through energy, creativity, and a sense of responsibility, in 2025 as well, this program was transformed into concrete results and initiatives that addressed real needs, improved school environments, and strengthened the connection between youth  and community.

Step by step, we present the achievements of this program:

SOLIDARITY CLUBS 2025

In 2025, for the first time, 8 Solidarity Clubs were established with high school students who were former Solidarity Action Day volunteers. These clubs implemented a total of 10 projects with direct impact on schools and communities.

Podujevë & Kamenicë: Access to learning materials for students and teachers was improved by equipping schools with new projectors.
Skënderaj: Spaces that encourage inclusion and student collaboration were created by building a volunteer corner in the school and equipping classrooms with informative posters.
Han i Elezit & Ferizaj: Digital communication in schools was modernized through the purchase of equipment such as TVs and projectors.
Istog: Initiatives focused on student well-being through the completion of murals in school environments.
Gjakovë: Cultural heritage was promoted by purchasing traditional costumes for the School Dance Club, alongside the implementation of inclusive activities.
Pejë: The Solidarity Club stood out by implementing two projects: the digitalization of classrooms at “Bedri Pejani” Gymnasium through the provision of projectors, and support for the NGO “Center for Independent Living” in Pejë by providing materials for the children who are part of this center.

An outstanding achievement this year was also the National Award for Educational Volunteering. In recognition of its commitment and significant social impact, the Solidarity Club of Peja was awarded first place in the category of non-formal groups.

Beyond the projects implemented, Solidarity Action Day also focused on empowering youth by preparing the next generation of youth leaders. Solidarity Clubs were given space to learn, reflect, and develop skills that will accompany youth into the future.

LEADERSHIP CAMP 2025

From August 4 to 7, the Leadership Camp brought together 36 former Solidarity Action Day volunteers from 7 municipalities across Kosovo.

Through non-formal education activities over the four days of the camp, these young people got to know one another, had the opportunity to learn more about the Solidarity Action Day program, and prepared to take an active role in organizing Solidarity Action Day 2025/26 – as youth leaders in their respective municipalities.

DIASPORA + TOKA

In June 2025, the Albanian diaspora once again joined the spirit of Solidarity Action Day. In London and Brussels, through two Albanian diaspora organizations, ALSA UK and VLERA, young Albanians engaged with local businesses. This energy continued throughout August, when, through the OriginAL program in cooperation with GERMIN, youth from the diaspora came to Kosovo to contribute directly to the community. IMPLEMENTATION OF SOLIDARITY ACTION DAY 2025

In 2025, Solidarity Action Day expanded by including, for the first time, the municipalities of Shtime and Prishtina, bringing the total number of participating municipalities to ten.

Each municipality demonstrated a high level of commitment and active engagement from youth, schools, and local businesses. The results by municipality are as follows:

  • Ferizaj: 53 volunteers, 15 partner businesses
  • Podujevë: 36 volunteers, 10 partner businesses
  • Shtime: 39 volunteers, 14 partner businesses
  • Prishtina: 50 volunteers, 16 partner businesses
  • Istog: 42 volunteers, 12 partner businesses
  • Pejë: 44 volunteers, 19 partner businesses
  • Kamenicë: 31 volunteers, 15 partner businesses
  • Hani i Elezit: 45 volunteers, 26 partner businesses
  • Gjakovë: 29 volunteers, 22 partner businesses
  • Skënderaj: 50 volunteers, 13 partner businesses

An outstanding achievement of this edition was the Municipality of Skënderaj, which for the first time implemented Solidarity Action Day fully independently, without direct support from TOKA.

In total, in 2025 Solidarity Action Day was implemented in 10 municipalities across Kosovo, involving a total of 419 volunteers and 161 partner businesses, who through their engagement contributed to raising over €5,000 for community projects.

Following the completion of Solidarity Action Day, a volunteer survey was conducted, showing that 79.5% of volunteers feel better prepared for the labor market, while 85.5% left this experience more motivated to engage again in volunteer work.

Experiences of some of the volunteers can be found below:

“For me, this engagement has been an extraordinary experience, as we were given the opportunity to contribute. The same feeling was shared by my peers, who were engaged in different businesses and gained unforgettable experiences. Thanks to our mentors, who supported us and made our work easier, this project was successfully completed. Thank you, TOKA.” – Era Klaiqi

“During this day, I learned how valuable teamwork is and how important it is to give of ourselves for something that brings benefits to our community. I saw firsthand the dedication, organization, and effort that every job requires, and I realized that small contributions create big changes when they come together. Thank you for the support and the opportunity provided.” Blerim Blakqori

“Solidarity Action Day has been an experience I will not easily forget. For the first time in our municipality, we accomplished something so meaningful. During this activity, I learned the value of helping, collaborating, and standing by one another. I saw that when everyone gives a little, together we create something great. This experience made me feel proud to be part of this day and to have had the opportunity to contribute to our community. Thank you, TOKA.” – Resul Bungu

Behind this journey stand teachers, mentors, youth leaders, and businesses who believed in the potential of youth and created spaces where they could grow. Every door that was opened and every hour shared with volunteers turned into a valuable lesson and a connection that goes beyond a single day.

During the period 2023-2025, over 1,500 volunteers were engaged in more than 305 partner businesses, while 119 young people continued their journey toward leadership roles. The implementation of the activity was supported by 41 teachers from ten high schools, resulting in 14 community projects being carried out.

We are extremely proud of every individual and business that contributed to this journey and left behind an impact that continues beyond this day.

Solidarity Action Day will continue to be implemented in 2026, creating space for new initiatives, collaborations, and stories that have yet to be written.
