Solidarity Action Day continues to bring together youth from the diaspora this year as well!

September 3, 2026

Solidarity Action Day, an initiative that has brought young people together around the values of solidarity and the desire to contribute, continued its journey in 2026.

Following the success achieved in Kosovo and across the diaspora, this year Solidarity Action Day returned to Brussels and also embarked on a new journey to Geneva, bringing together young Albanians and businesses for a shared purpose: supporting youth in Kosovo.

The idea remained just as simple: youth commit to working for one day at local businesses, while the earnings from that day are donated to a cause that creates a direct impact on the community. This time, youth from the diaspora once again chose to support students in Kosovo by dedicating the funds raised to the “Lulëzojnë” Scholarship program.

Meanwhile, solidarity was also present in London, where the Albanian community mobilised through an online fundraising campaign, bringing together contributions from the diaspora to support the “Lulëzojnë” scholarships for youth in Kosovo.

On 29 April 2026, in collaboration with VLERA, the Albanian student organisation in Belgium, Solidarity Action Day returned, continuing its partnership and shared commitment to empowering youth.

At the heart of the initiative were coordinators Rinesa Bytyqi and Blerta Kas, who helped connect 12 young people with 10 local businesses, making possible a day in which voluntary work was transformed into tangible support for students in Kosovo. The funds raised through Solidarity Action Day aim to ease some of the key expenses students face during their studies, including books, accommodation, and technology.

A special thank you goes to the businesses that became part of Solidarity Action Day in Belgium and demonstrated that, together, we can create new opportunities for youth:

Belgium: AAdiden Finances, Innoovative Solutions, Fiollë Koca, Alba Restaurant, HVE Engineering Service, Boucherie Sainte Alix, Rosita’s Cantina, Fritland, Bee Aesthetic and Le Vignoble.

From Brussels, solidarity travelled to Geneva. Just a few weeks later, the spirit of Solidarity Action Day continued its journey to another community within the Albanian diaspora.

On 20 June 2026, Solidarity Action Day was organised in Geneva for the first time, in collaboration with AEAUG, the student organisation for Albanian students and culture at the University of Geneva in Switzerland, bringing together Albanian youth and local businesses for the same shared cause.

Under the coordination of Dritë Asllani and Elda Gashi, 12 volunteers took part in the initiative across 3 local businesses, working for one day and turning their efforts into meaningful support for youth in Kosovo.

The funds raised in Geneva were also dedicated to the “Lulëzojnë” Scholarship Program, helping contribute towards students’ essential needs, including books, accommodation, and technology.

A special thank you to the businesses that became part of Solidarity Action Day in Geneva and demonstrated that voluntary work can create new opportunities for young people:

Geneva: Ilazi Law, Groupe Orllati dhe Restaurant L’Adriatique.

From Brussels to Geneva, every volunteer, coordinator, and participating business became part of a chain of solidarity connecting the diaspora with Kosovo and one generation of youth with another.

Beyond the months of April and June, August of this year also brought the energy, dedication, and commitment of youth from the diaspora to Kosovo.

As part of the OriginAL programme, implemented in collaboration with the GERMIN organisation, 38 young Albanians from the diaspora came together to work for one day in Kosovo, bringing with them diverse experiences, energy, and a shared desire to contribute to the community.

The participants came from the United States of America, Denmark, Germany, Türkiye, Portugal, France, Spain, Austria, Switzerland, Italy, and Belgium, making this activity a powerful example of the ongoing connection between youth in the diaspora and Kosovo.

The funds raised through their engagement will be used to support an award within the Volunteerism Awards campaign. This award aims to recognise and celebrate individuals who make a meaningful contribution to their communities through their work and dedication, while also inspiring others to follow in their footsteps.

A special thank you to the businesses that became part of Solidarity Action Day with the Diaspora, making it possible for young people from the diaspora to learn more about their homeland and strengthen their connection with it.

Prishtina: Green & Protein, Lotta’s Pizza Bar, Bubble Pub, Crust N Crumb, Frix, Pepperific, Pasta Fasta, Papirun, Tartine and Beni Restaurant.

From spring through the final days of summer, this year was marked by the dedication and energy of youth from the diaspora to contribute to their homeland. Every effort was transformed into action, creating experiences and stories that will remain memorable for years to come.

The journey of Solidarity Action Day does not end here. With the goal of expanding to more and more places, it continues to grow into a tradition that brings younger generations closer to their homeland, connects communities, and demonstrates that solidarity knows no borders.

We are deeply grateful to the volunteers in London, Brussels, Geneva, and to everyone across the diaspora who took part in this journey. Their work and dedication continue to show that distance does not weaken the connection to one’s homeland. On the contrary, when youth come together around a shared purpose, the kilometres between the diaspora and Kosovo become bridges for collaboration.
